PYROPHYLLITE

Pyrophyllite is an early stage metamorphic mineral and is actually quite common although usually not very abundant as good mineral specimens. It is found as a constituent of slate, phyllite, some schists and other early stage metamorphic rocks. It is widely used in refractories, high-grade ceramics, and electric insulators also have applications in filler applications, and in handicraft industries owing to the lumps’ nature and softness. Other applications include product use as a filler in pesticides, rubber, cosmetics, paper, paints, and bleaching soap among others.

 

The group has pyrophyllite ore at NP Kunta area of Anantapur district, Andha Padesh. The ore from this mine is green to grayish in color and compact in nature. No impurities, like mica, is present in the ore.Free silica bands (quartz reefs) are totally absent. Alumina content is above 28% and the average silica content is 55 %.The area is well prospected and the estimated reserve is about 100 million tons of Pyrophyllite ore. The area enjoys good infrastructure and the nearby port is Krishnapatnam, 200 km away from the deposit
